Enhance Healing With Red Light Therapy

LZRLOGO.jpg

Red Light Therapy aids in the health and wellness of skin, muscles and other parts of the body through the application of low levels of infrared light. Red Light Therapy applies light emitting diodes (LED) to be used on the outer layer of the skin and can reach several centimeters into the body.

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?

How does red light therapy work?

Red light therapy is thought to work by acting on the “power plant” in your body’s cells called mitochondria. With more energy, other cells can do their work more efficiently, such as repairing skin, boosting new cell growth and enhancing skin rejuvenation. More specifically, certain cells absorb light wavelengths and are stimulated to work.

Red light therapy may work in skin health to:

  • Stimulate collagen production, which gives skin its structure, strength and elasticity.

  • Increase blood circulation to the tissue.

  • Reduce inflammation in cells.

In horses, red light therapy:

  • Reduces pain & inflammation

  • Heals & repairs tissue

  • Improves joint & muscle health

  • Increases blood circulation

  • Enhances show animal performance

  • Wound healing

  • Stimulate bone, nerve & hair growth

  • And Much More!

Meet Volturi, A Red Light Therapy Success

Volturi suffered a freak trailering accident as a yearling that resulted in a hock fracture, deep bone bruising, and ligament teats in the right hock. When Equioxx wasn't offering much relief in the way of keeping the swelling down and keeping him sound, she turned to red light therapy to help increase the blood circulation to the joints, heal the surface wounds, and repair tissue. After a month of every other day treatments, she combined PEMF therapy with Red Light Therapy to maximize results. Although the extensive damage has left Volturi with some pretty severe arthritis, he is easily maintained with Red Light Therapy and PEMF treatments once per month and has gone on to become a 2X National Champion and a successful breeding stallion.

But there's more! His owner also suffers from psoriatic arthritis and exhibits extreme swelling and pain in her hands and fingers. With Red Light Therapy, she is able to keep the swelling down and enjoys full mobility of her joints. The pain is nearly gone!

Treat Skin Conditions!

Red light therapy appears to be safe and is not associated with any side effects, at least if used short-term and as directed. This therapy is not toxic, not invasive and not as harsh as some topical skin treatments. Unlike the cancer-causing ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun or tanning booths, RLT doesn’t use this type of light.

Red light therapy is promoted as a treatment for some common skin conditions, including to:

  • Improve wound healing

  • Reduce stretch marks

  • Reduce wrinkles, fine lines and age spots.

  • Improve facial texture.

  • Improve psoriasis, rosacea and eczema.

  • Improve scars.

  • Improve sun-damaged skin.

  • Improve hair growth in people with androgenic alopecia.

  • Improve acne.

  • Wrinkles

  • Hair Loss

  • Increase Testosterone

  • Weight Loss

  • Migraines

  • Seasonal affective disorder

  • Bone & Nerve Growth

  • And Much More!

Red light therapy involves having low-power red light wavelengths emitted directly through the skin, although this process cannot be felt and isn’t painful because it doesn’t produce any heat. Red light can be absorbed into the skin to a depth of about eight to 10 millimeters, at which point it has positive effects on cellular energy and multiple nervous system and metabolic processes. This type of light is considered “low level” because it works at an energy density that’s low compared to other forms of laser therapies. there are virtually no known adverse side effects of red light therapy treatments, rather a growing list of many anti-aging benefits.

How Does It Work?

A 2012 report published in Annals in Biomedical Engineering stated that red light is used in three primary ways: “to reduce inflammation, edema, and chronic joint disorders; to promote healing of wounds, deeper tissues, and nerves; and to treat neurological disorders and pain.”  It’s been found to help promote stronger immunity and longevity by increasing cell proliferation and migration, as well as modulating levels of cytokines, growth factors and inflammatory mediators.

Increasing energy levels by promoting release of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) from cells’ mitochondria

Stimulating DNA/RNA synthesis

Activating the lymphatic system, an important part of our immune system that helps carry waste out of the body

Increasing blood flow/circulation, thereby helping bring more oxygen and nutrients to our cells and tissues

Forming new capillaries (small blood vessels)

Improving natural production of collagen and fibroblasts, important for skin care and joint and digestive health

Repairing and restoring damaged soft connective tissue

Stimulating or decreasing inflammation, which helps control our natural healing capabilities

Lowering effects of oxidative stress/free radical damage, which is associated with many effects of aging
